Design ideas – add colour to a white kitchen

One of the biggest kitchen trends in 2014 was brightening up an existing kitchen with design touches, rather than a completely new kitchen that can cost thousands, and takes a lot of planning and inconvenience.
One trend that we saw emerging very strongly was the trend for jazzing up a pristine plain white kitchen with colourful glass splash backs to add colour, and we can see the trend already carrying on into 2014. We love it – and we have just the range of coloured glass to be able to help you if you want to give the glass splash back trend a try in your home.

How do you use accessories to add colour to white units?

It’s really easy. If you already have a plain kitchen, it makes the whole project even easier, as you have a wonderful blank canvas to start working on.

You can also add one or two units or interesting accessories in contrasting colours to make the kitchen look even more interesting and on-trend. Rather than just using a glass splash back to add your chosen colour to a plain white kitchen cabinets, some people are upgrading their kitchen’s stark white look with some bright coloured cabinets or accessories.

Beautiful, brightly coloured glass makes the perfect addition to almost any modern kitchen, and a glass splash back is perfect is easy to keep clean and looking good too. All you need to do with your splash back is to give it a regular wipe and polish, and because there are no joins, unlike tiles, there’s no dirt or bacteria lurking in there, either.

A touch of glass gives a real contemporary twist to a plain white kitchen, and adds to the clean lines and feel you want from a pristine colour scheme. For the best results, opt for  toughened glass that’s at least 6mm  - and for a bit of sophistication, don’t just stick to the trusted, muted colours, go for something really eye catching like raspberry, orange or lilac.

For an idea of the huge range of coloured glass splash backs we can offer, check out our colour chart, and for ideas on using coloured glass to enhance your home, feel free to contact our helpful team at Lothian Glass for more information and/or a quote.

The fact that it can be coloured in so many attractive shades means that there’s a shade for just about every domestic or commercial project.

The back-painted glass process (BPG) has created a great new material for anyone to introduce into their home which can be coloured to match their existing décor â€" your imagination is your only limit when you’re working with coloured glass.
